Rossby waves, also known as planetary waves, arise naturally in rotating fluids. In the Earth's atmosphere and oceans, they form as a consequence of the planet’s rotation. In this setting, meanders are observed in numerical simulations, for instance, transporting cold air masses toward lower latitudes. In this talk, we investigate their possible existence from a mathematical point of view, focusing on the role of the parity of the resonances involved.
